LOS ANGELES, July 20 (Press from PRNewswire) - Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) will bring Sierra Entertainment's Crash Tag Team Racing, a humorous action/racing game starring Crash Bandicoot, to the PSP(PlayStation Portable) system this Fall. Developed by VU Games' Radical Entertainment(TM) studio, creators of the critically-acclaimed The Simpsons: Hit & Run(TM), the newest addition to the best-selling Crash Bandicoot video game franchise will combine crazy combat racing with on-foot exploration and adventure while taking advantage of all of the advanced technology of the PSP system.

In Crash Tag Team Racing, players will be able to "Clash" their car with an opponent's mid-race, fusing the two together to create a super-car equipped with a powerful turret gun. When clashed, players can either get behind the wheel and drive or fire an onboard weapon. Each character has his or her own uniquely deadly 360-degree rotating turret. Players can continue the action out of the car where they can explore the entire world on foot and collect upgrades for their cars and unlock bonus tracks.

Crash Tag Team Racing for the PSP system will take advantage of the technical innovations of the device, including advanced portable graphics and wireless multiplayer modes. Players will be able to play against one another through a wireless connection in Co-op Mode, where two players join and race together in a permanently clashed vehicle to race and combat other players, aswell as Tournament Mode, where each player competes alone in a series of races to determine the ultimate winner. Crash Tag Team Racing is the perfect game for Crash fans young and old, featuring hilarious gameplay and challenges fit for all levels of players. Chris Lee Mullins (Highlands Ranch, CO) - Ridge Racer was the first game I ever played on the original PlayStation. I spent hours upon hours playing it. I figured, just for nostalgia's sake, I'd pick up Ridge Racer while buying Sony's new PSP, see if the magic remained. Yeah....almost everything about this game is perfect. Impressive graphics. Responsive and intuitive controls. At first I was worried about playing a driving sim with the PSP's tiny analog stick, but it works wonderfully. Great music. I was also worried about playing a driving sim on such a small screen. How would I be able to pick up on visual cues that a sharp turn was imminent? Somehow, the game designers throw in enough visual cues, almost subliminally. Ridge Racer for the PSP borrows liberally from previous iterations like Rave Racer, etc... Just about every track looked familiar to me, every piece of music, too. I didn't recognize all of the content, but enough to realize that not everything here is new. So far, I've purchased Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer and Lumines for the PSP. Ridge Racer has gotten about 90% of the attention. If you get the PSP, get Ridge Racer, if only just to show off what your new PSP can do.

N. Itro Blasta "Psyko" (Portland, ME) - I picked up a PSP and this game recently. It's very similiar to the PS2 version with racing circuits, drag racing, buying new cars, etc. It's great to play on a PSP with the earbuds nobody gets annoyed with cranking up the volume...I do get annoyed glances from the occassional maniacal outbursts though! The music is awesome...great hip-hop and metal tunes that help get the blood flowing, particularly when it's loud and your goin' 120 through a city (another plus with the buds).

Be ready for some unbelievable action with speeds of up to 130 mph through city streets/tunnels, weaving in and out of traffic...also there's lots of different cars to slip into(foreign and domestic, tricked-up, muscle cars, etc.)

Secondly, hang on for your life because this game isn't just about skill...it's about how close to the edge you dare to go (I've plummeted over that edge many a time and it's breathtakingly fun!) Good luck!

In essence you are one of 8 hovercraft racing ships that compete on looped tracks in a variety of arena styles. Your tracks take you through rural landscapes, through busy cities, in underwater tunnels and in high off-the-ground jumps. Whether you're used to this genre from the wipeout series or from the pod racing games, you know how full of adrenaline and fun this can be. You get the traditional power-ups as you go around the loops, picking up speed boosts, mines, guns, laser blasts, shields and more. Much of the challenge here is to really memorize a track, so that you can whip around its courses with intuitive ease, sliding gently to grab that extra boost to go past your enemy.

The PSP screen might be small, but the graphics are so detailed in this game that you really don't notice. You get roaring crouds, rippling water, great lighting details, customized ships, legible signs. There's no problem at all seeing what the course is doing or where to dodge. The sounds are going to appeal to some and not appeal to others. If you like dance / electronic music you will really enjoy this. If you'd rather have a hard rock blasting track, you might be disappointed. You can always turn the volume up or down based on your preference. The sound does come across much better in the headphones because of the high notes being played. Try the music that way before you make any judgement.

The learning curve is a little steep - even the first races are a challenge. Don't give up, though. You need to learn how to use the joystick, how to understand the tracks, how to use the brakes and ease up on the accelerator. You can't just blast around the track at full speed, missing the boosts, and expect to win. There is a fair amount of strategy here - when to slow down to negotiate the curves, when to slide left to grab that boost. Give yourself a number of laps to really learn the course - and then use that knowledge to achieve victory. The sequential challenge mode is really great once you've used the training modes to study the tracks.

You can take on 7 other racers and test your skills. It is GREAT with the wireless connections to play against 7 other friends who are on the bus with you or in the same room! That is where this game really shines. You get the great graphics, great gameplay, and now you're effortlessly racing against all of your friends too. You really couldn't ask for much more from a handheld game. If I *had* to find something to improve for a sequel, I'd ask for a wider range of music selections.

That's about it! Highly recommended!
